Ya, Id definately go with 3" on the GTR. From what I've read, the GTR responds well to breathing mods. I'll be running 3" on mine. Nice numbers BTW!

If you go for 3 inch exhaust, prepare to port your wastegate, or make a new exhaust manifold with an external wastegate setup.
You won't be able to control boost at all if you leave it as it is.
I have a 2,5 inch system with 2 resonators and a cat and I still get boost creeps to 1.1 bar.

I hate you, this is what I wanted to do and didn't have the money for.

        Nice numbers and nice car!

You might wanna get your car checked out at a shop. I started with a 2.5 inch turbo back on my GTR and the boost never went past 12 psi for me unless I turned it up.

But yeah, for boost a 3 inch exhaust is definetly the way to go. If you go with smaller than that and upgrade the turbo you'll get chocked off on top end. BTW, nice setup and numbers.

Holy crap. After figuring out more info on the ignition table, we found out the default numbers I've been using are ridiculously low. An increase of 4 points=1 deg. advance, and at high boost, it's only got about 11 degrees advance. I was being WAY too conservative. Talked to Derrick at Corksport, and I just made a new map and will roadtest..I've figured out what data needs to be entered in the laptop to make the same power and torque figures as I got on the dyno. New and improved numbers on the way...
'90 AWD Protege, full GTR drivetrain swap, ~320 whp daily driver, RIP, and
'90 AWD Protege, yet another GTR swap, Open class rallycar with a Toyota GT4 gearbox swap, thus crossing the line between hobby and mental illness. And a Brabus E55 K8, removing all doubt.

It was in a pretty cold day that I saw 1.1 bar. 0 degrees celsius.
                  now that it's warmer (10-13 C) I get 12-13 psi max.

Hey Jay.. do you have any dyno sheets to post?

Here's the run I did yesterday, using Dataloglab on a laptop. I used this program at the dyno shop to record that run, and used the car definition editor to make the chart on the laptop match the one from the dyno shop. I used those same definitions to make the graphs on the road from there on out. That said, I'm not totally certain I believe these numbers. I had 233 hp and 251 ftlbs at the shop. That was with no more than 11 degrees advance, and a 9 to 1 AF on the topend. Now, we have this...and I still have a bit to go on AF ratio... still a bit too rich.

Nice numbers but they look more like crank numbers - not wheel ones - esp since you're AWD

Wheel numbers. The 233/251 or whatever numbers are at the wheels at an AWD dyno. The datalog program that gives wheel hp/tq figures, and I corrected them to match what the dynosheet gave me. Then I backed off data like added weight in the car, hp for given MPH, and such to get conservative numbers. Supposedly, there are 400 whp GTR motors out there, this mill rawks. And Dataloglab is proud of saying that numbers from thier program are within 3% of a dynosheet. But who knows, really. All I know is, it's getting closer to being properly tuned, and it's one fast Protege. Riceboys beware. Someone's gonna get owned....

oh sweet jesus, that thing will be a rocket on wheels, even with the extra weight from the AWD system.

I'll take the extra weight in trade for the extra grip, thanks. I don't even wanna think about how ridiculous this thing would be if it was FWD. I'll try and get video posted when I get it to it's first autocross or track day...
