Help me trouble shoot my turbo setup

I was able to fire my engine today and I had some trouble. (BP with vj-20 turbo, GTX injectors and TMIC) As soon as I start it up, the rpms rise like crazy until about 4000 RPMS without me hitting the gas at all. It might even go higher but that's when I shut it off. Right now I have an open DP and I haven't wired the wideband O2 sensor yet. I also wired an extension on the wires leading to the VAF. If I wired something wrong there could it cause this to happen? Any help would be appreciated.

Might have a crazy vaccume leak, or your throttle cable is messed up for some reason. When I had an IC pipe unhooked, it would rise really high, then settle at 1k and die. Double check that wiring also.

Make sure your throttle cable isn't caught on something... mine did that once!

Thanks guys! It was the throttle cable after all (*sigh of relief*). There was a very small twist in it right where it connects to the TB. I must have looked at the thing 5 times before I saw it. It idles well now but my boost gauge is not showing any boost. I'm sure it's a problem with the way I hooked up the gauge and not the turbo. I'll try fooling with it again tomorrow. Once I get my PLX wideband O2 sensor hooked up I'll take some pics.

          Congrats on getting it started!

Revving it while sitting still will not give you much of a reading on the boost gauge if that is what you mean .... but you should see vacuum.

I had that same problem when I did an oil change once... I moved the cable outta the way to reach under the intake manifold to get the filter. :microwave

The motor needs a load in order to get boost.

Thanks Lex. I was just revving the engine. Hopefully it will be ready to drive today and I'll see if the gauge works then.

Thanks. I'm still working on the custom front engine mount. 1/4 inch hardened steel can be very stubborn. I'll post some results as soon as I get them.
