    Turbo'd with what weight oil?

I'm thinking of using 10W40 synthetic... that's what everyone seems to recommend for forced induction engines.

What are ya'll using in your motors?

I'm either gonna use Royal Purple XPR, or Motul... any feedback on either?

Ive ran Mobil 1 and now I am using Redline since Mobil 1 apparently is no longer a full synthetic.

      I've used 5w30, 10w30 and 10w40.

With 10w40 I got marginally less blowby than with the other ones but they all worked well. Most people recommend the 10w40 due to the extra pressure on the rings and "older" motors that we have in these cars. For a new motor you can use a thinner oil than a 40, especially in the winter.

are there any full synthetics out there anymore that you can actually get locally? wtf is up with mobil 1 not being synthetic?

Redline remains a full synthetic and I can get it at a local parts store. It's not cheap though

I've seen a lot of other oils like quaker state and valvoline etc claim they have full synthetics. Not sure what to trust.

i like having the 0w40 cause my car sees the occasional 20-30* F start.. it always warms up all the way before i drive it anywhere though. no matter what temp it is outside.

Really, you wait for it to be completely warm? How much you turbo time?

i dont have a turbo timer but i try to let it run for at least two minutes or so.

i'm pretty paranoid about messing up this turbo... considering my downpipe wont be of much use if the vj23 goes on me lol

Lol that's why I have 2 of them. If it goes though I'd seriously consider a garrett and a new manifold.

Gonna go get some Redline 10W30... and also change up my tranny fluid to Redline MTF. That other synthetic **** in there grinds 2nd gear once in a while... I've heard good things about Redline.

I've also learnt that with a thinner oil the turbo will run with less lag than a thicker oil.

makes sense about the lag... but the lag helps keep my car driveable in the rain so whatever hahaha.

i'm running the cheapest of cheap napa 80w90 gear oil in my transmission with no grinding problems....

I've ran redline tranny fluid and it still grinds second sometimes .... ATF didn't grind but it was ATF

I called Mazda yesterday just curious to see what they ran in their Mazdaspeed Miata's... and they run 5W20.

                              Hmmm... what to do?
