    gtx vs n/a

pulling the motor this weekend to change transmission and oil pan gasket

should i install the gtx intake manifold when i have the engine out or keep the n/a manifold

    also going in

well if you're using the BP26 ecu, I'd say the GTX. But I've read that a good combo would be the 1st gen BP lower, and 2nd gen BP upper, and then find a way to use the vics. Not sure if thats proven to be better, but has the same logic as the restriction in the BP26 head (better low end torque).
No car! I soldz it. Now I have a truck. I like it, but apparently it has a hard time keeping up with a slightly modified 4WD protege with half the hp. Neat.

talk to bpt323, i'm fairly certain he has the n/a intake manifold on his turbo setup.

i reused the IM gasket on my GTR motor without problems.

ryan has a GTR intake manifold.

i'd love to see someone try boosting on an NA intake manifold and controlling vics with a hobbs switch...

I think it was Ryan who put the idea in my head.....real question is, at what rpm or rpms would you activate vics? where would tq vs flow make the most difference.

i would activate vics with a hobbs switch... its a boost pressure switch. have it open up when you hit like 2psi or something.

i think my vics is open all the time due to the gtx ecu

honestly with this still being uncharted territory the only way to tell would to dyno the car with the vics closed, then open and find a logical cross-over point.

sounds like a good idea but i plan to go with a gtr manifold later in the summer

On a N/A motor VICS start opening around the 3000rpm mark... that's what I noticed.

                        It actually opens at 5-5,150rpm

i'd keep the n/a intake manifold on it if i were you. then test to see what you like better, open or closed VICS.

GTX intake manifolds are the worst flowing manifold available for the BP.

                          i run a N/A intake manny on 1 of my 2 boosted egt's,
i have my vics open at 2 psi, with a 2 psi hobbs switch, it seems to work just fine, that egt's has a gtx ecu and 330cc injectors, and i ran a .42/.48 t3,
                          then i put 460cc/gtx ecu with a safc 2 and ran a .60/.63 t3 and ran fine, now i run a t3/t4 (specs i can't remember at the moment) 460cc,gtx ecu,safc2
on this car i change turbos 3 times last summer and i added a externally W.G!!!!
when i bring the car back out(i live in WI) i will try without the vics hooked up/ just open and compare the diffrence.
                          5 boosted bp cars,why...

I had a vac line running from the vics actuator to the manny. So it was closed under vac and open under boost, but I took it out cuz it didn't seem to make a difference so I just ran it open.

anyone know the gains had with gtr intake manifold with the vj20 over whatever intake na or gtx
