I have tuned my rx7 vaf before and I have it perfect. However I want to know if I can install some 460cc rx7 injectors, yes I know which ones to use, and then use my wideband to tune the vaf lean at idle until I get it right again. I imagine that it will run pig rich before I tune it leaner. I think though it will solve my issue with it leaning out above ten psi. If not then I'll get a fuel pressure gauge and look into that even though I doubt its my pump since I have a walbro. I know that other people have been fine at 15-16psi with the bp26 ecu and the 330cc injectors...but mine isn't and it's the oddest situation ever. I only have a problem above 10 psi if I stab the gas below 4,000rpms... SOOOO I'm just going to try the 460's and see if it helps.

id test fuel pressure first , just hook a gauge up and drive around see if it drops off. also pinch the return to make sure you can deadhead the pump, it should reach 80 or more. if its just a stock vj20 setup id deffinatly stat with the pump if its still stock...92 protege lx-

the fuel pump is a walbro.
the turbo is a vj-20 with factory O2 housing and it is fine at 10psi. anything more like 15psi and I can ONLY floor it when it is above 4,000rpms and the air fuel ratio stays below 13:1. but is I try to stab the gas below 4,000rpms the air fuel ratio goes lean, aboe 13:1, and it detonates..
SO I'm going to have some 460's sent to a company in FL to have them rebuilt and flow tested and balanced and then I'll install them and tune the system leaner at idle with the vaf and HOPE for the best..
I'll get a fuel pressure gauge too. What brands do you guys suggest? and do they go inline and can I have the gauge mounted in the car so I can see them? I commonly see them under the hood of a car but not in the cab.

i didnt mean one to install in the car, i was just meaning to T into the pressure line . run the gauge up out the hood, close it and go for a ride. most of the gauges ive seen have about 3 or 4 feet of hose i just run it up and either into the car, or just duct tape it on the windshield if i have to. all ya gotta do is watch it for a minute .... when you hook it up at first, ground the fuel pump in the diag box to make it run with the key on. see what it goes to, see if it take a minute to get there , pinch the return and read the pressure again, if its good drive it and try to get it to do it again.... thats all i was getting at...lol...92 protege lx-

they make in-cabin fuel pressure gauges, they are liquid filled so it does not bring gas into the car.
yunvmyegt has the idea with the pressure gauge outside the hood tho, i've done it.
there should be an easier solution than an safc tho, especially if its just a stock gtx setup!-Jack

exactly mazda powered. I would like to go mega squirt but I'd rather spend that money on the trans and clutch kit I have to buy first!
I am getting the injectors for free from an rx7-savvy friend and I'm getting them cleaned and balanced asap. I need to buy the fuel pressure gauge though before I install them to see if fuel pressure is an issue..
I should, after this, be able to address whatever is wrong and run 15 psi all day long with my setup. I shouldn't be having these issues as there are people who have my setup and run 15psi all day long for the life of their engine.. I've been stuck back at 10psi this entire time wishing I could fix my problem and its been frustrating me for years..
Let's hope finally I can solve it.
