I'd just like to find out if it is possible or has anyone tried changing their old VAF system to a MAF system, if so let me know, i'm really interested in trying that out.

They two read voltages differently, as well as how they measure air. Not something you can just swap, but it has been done before, using a '97 GM MAF from a Pontiac Grand Prix. The aussie forum (can't remember address) has a huge thread about it.
It's not simple. In fact, its harder than going standalone with MegaSquirt and ditching both.No car! I soldz it. Now I have a truck. I like it, but apparently it has a hard time keeping up with a slightly modified 4WD protege with half the hp. Neat. -
thanks a mil, i did read previously about a guy with an rx7 who did the conversion, he had to measure the voltage outputs to calibrate the MAF, something about translating voltages at a certian rpm that the VAF would output to the MAF's output, i'll post that link at a later date, was just checking if someone found a easier way lol
