    Hey gang. I'm new here and I had great feedback from friends about this site. I own a 2003 protege LX. I've got a problem. My RPM, when on neutral (idle), raises and lowers by itself till the engine stalls. The check engine light is on. I recently changed my spark plugs (they were due) and gapped them at 0.42. I think the fuel filters or the fuel pump causes this problem. Could I be right? Any ideas?

    I think I heard the intake manifold gaskets are prone to leaking. Also heard egr valve or idle air controller. Welcome to cp

        might be a vac leak, mine is doing that now aswell. but like turpro said, the EGR is a big problem on third gens. my P5 has never seen any of these problems, but my MSP seems to be going through them now. i fixed a small vac leak yesterday and it boost a lot better now, but i still idle a bit weird.
