    Aussie, with mazda powered Ford

Hi all, I'm Liam, hailing from Melbourne, Australia, and I own a '91 Ford Laser, which is about to undergo an engine swap for an engine out of a Familia Infini.

My first car just became my project car. :p

The motor coming out of the Infini should be the BPT with the factory LSD. That should be a fun car when it's done. Are you just going to swap it or buy it up a bit before you put it in?

I've decided that my car is a girl, she's picky as hell, won't listen to me, always wants to fight me, and when i give her presents it's never good enough and she always wants more.

Hey Liam. Welcome. Please post some pics.

@ deadly_sleeper: I thought the Infini came with an NA BP. No?

Hye guys, thanks for the introductions!

The engine I have is a NA BP engine, though I believe it was in-house tuned to about 100kW. I'm not going to attempt the LSD, seeing as there will be literally none in aus, and itll cost a fortune. Im only a student and thererefore dont have much of a budget.

I havent got any laser parts to sell as yet, I'm planning on buying all the parts I need and then doing all the work at once, so the car will still be being used as a daily drive until then.

I will definitely post some pics up, once I get this engine unloaded off the back of the ute, and when I can get some piccies of the car.

thanks a lot guys, hopefully you can all watch the build as it progresses,

                    cheers,

                    liam

Thanks all for the very warm welcome, pics will be uploaded soon, I am waiting on some driveshafts to be delivered and I may have sourced a gearbox...

On another note, does anyone here know if I can run the BP without the P/S and AC pumps? Can I just take them off to save me having to install the systems to the car? (And save weight :D)

yes, neither A/C or P/S are required. you can save close to 41 KG/90lbs if you take out both systems

awesome, well since the light weight of my Laser is such an advantage (950kg!) Id be silly to waste it on anything I dont really need...especially since I'll probably be adding weight, replacing B6 with BP..

Also means theres less work til I can get it all hooked up and running!
