New BP Protege owner here (2nd time owner technically)

1st car we kept about 10 months getting it back to its former glory and traded it to a good friend of ours for his Miata (he loves the Protege btw) ...well, we got the opportunity for another and jumped at the chance.

It spent its entire life in Phoenix, AZ so yes, it is 100% rust free and clean. For the moment it is still down there sitting in my parents driveway.

and yes, it is 100% stock and unmolested (even the exhaust is still stock)

Here are some photos to share:

..and for anyone curious, this is the briefly former owned Protege that started the quest for the 2nd one (the 1st one came to us from Atlanta, GA so it is also rust free and currently in 'storage' mode for winter so it will not see salt!)

That paint is in great shape for an AZ car.

^ the car was repainted at some point (not the best repaint job I must say).. and it's amazing how much certain angle photos can hide things... the important thing here to us is the total lack of rust.

But it was garaged or covered most of the time so it has no cracked dash or other typical Phoenix area tell-tale heat and sun damage.

Here is the 'burnt paint' issues one can expect to see on the hood though:

Welcome! Good to see some of these cars are safe from rust. I kinda like that mint green 1993 only color.
