yea the internals are interchangeable, i've heard of people swapping mx-3 V6 internals into a BP trans for shorter gearing or something silly like that.

I'm thinking about swapping 97+ SPI escort trans internals into my V6 trans for longer gear ratios! I want some mpg's to go with my tq and hp's. Plus it might give me a glimmer of hope for traction.

Here it is guys, the vid taken at the weekend. Didn't realise the camera tr**** was rattling about so much until it was too late and I'm still working on the bloody annoying exhaust rattle. This was 3000rpm and about a 1/4 throtle and about 100km/h or just under. Note the car coming towards me as I turn round about half way through vid :O Spent the rest of the weekend fitting an Alarm/Immobiliser only to discover I had a duff unit which had to go back to the shop...had alarm but no immobiliser...all sorted now. My secondhand radar detector arrived in the post today

Apologies for the camera rattling on the tripod and the awful rattling exhaust....soon to be fixed. First run down a very bumpy road to find out what rattled...

Yep, it sure does Just got to wait until I get some more miles on it. Gives me a chance to sort all the niggles. Like realising my fuel gauge means empty when it says empty !! Had the embarassment of getting the Mrs to rescue me :

how is your fuel economy coming out?

Pretty good...much to my surprise. This was was my DD or "work runner" with a twin carb 1500 motor and the V6 actually seems to be better ! I'll let you know next week on how much fuel its actually using.

                    Comment

Fuel economy is coming out at around 29miles/imperial gallon (about 24miles/US gallon) which is around 250 miles on a tank. Not too bad really.

Not much else to report other than now have alarm/immobiliser fitted with remote central locking.....which makes life much nicer...not having to reach across and unlock passenger door.

youre getting 24 and im getting 21...something is wrong here. lol

i really think i need to work on my ignition timing/tps setup. i think they are out of balance. sometimes my idle surges up and down like its trying to correct itself. probably 500 rpms up and down or so. but i do have a junkard throttle body so it could be just a bad iacv.

Could be the cause but running a straight length of pipe as an exhaust might not be helping I'd check all the things you mention and check all your vacuum lines (including the engine breather into the intake pipe) and round the inlet manifold to the cylinder head. Just spray some WD40 around the vacuum connections with it running ....if it gets sucked in you'll hear a change in engine note. Assume that you've checked your compressions???

Yeah I did the wd40. I think I have a small one around the vris chamber. And If my comp tester isn't bad I have low compression on cylinders 2 and 5, Both corners of the engine.

Things left to do on the 323 really amount to sorting out my spring rates for something a little smoother and getting some taller gearing in it.

Still have the cosmetics and interior to make a bit better but I've been distracted by the Astina that I bought for $380 with some front end damage...plan is to sort this out as a family DD.........but I just happen to have a spare KLDE and box lying about looking for a home

Just kind of wondering about putting that motor in the Atsina in a few months time.....after alll it is just a BG 323 with 4 doors and RX7 type flip up headlights.

Any a few pics of the destruction ...and where the hell do I put this ???? Did you get these in the US ???
