    Sloppy shifter

Hi all, been awhile. 20 months or so later and the crank keyway repair is holding strong - woo-hoo!

This has been bugging the shat out of me forever. Lots of left/right play in the shifter, and a nice rattly clinky sound at higher speeds. Traced it back to the transmission end of the control rod. See the pic - exact spot is circled in red.

There are no bushings - it's just metal-on-metal. However I can't see how I would install bushings here. There's no bolt/nut to remove but rather what seems to be a pin which is permanently attached. So wtf do I do?

you CAN still buy the whole rod as an assembly @ mazda .. was like 30.00

or drill it out and pick up a shouldered bolt and nylock nut like oem and get the bushings from either corksport for bronzoils or oem from the dealer . 8.00 ea iirc
