Used 2 cans of brake clean on the motor.... Found out that on the front of the block where the tranny meets the block that there is a number stamped and its painted white. I also put the new water pump on. Yesterday I cleaned my engine bay out.... Degreased the crossmember and took it out to get welded since the crossmember broke an ear on the front. I also ordered the new bushings for the crossmember from mazda... as soon as the crossmember is welded I am putting it back in with the new rubber bushings

Well the assumption as of right now is that my friend's torque wrench was taking a **** and it over torqued the rod caps crushing a rod bearing and spinning it. We did loosen all the rods and retorque them with my other friend's snap-on torque wrench... But they got messed up. So hopefully this sat

Well, after a charming letter from the city, My project GT's progress will start up again, so Now I have no excuse for not working on it, other then its **** ing cold outside and windy.
Ive been pressured to put the car in my backyard and work on it there, although im actually happy, as its a little closer to my tool box back there. So it works out.Mazda

Well my exhaust has been leaking for some time now, so today one of my friends was working on his car at his work(a shop) so I went up in hopes of welding up wherever it was leaking from...put the car on the lift and don't notice anything obvious other than the back of the muffler being rusted through the outer layer, which looks like a heat shield...so we start the car and look and yep, it's leaking from there. The hanger rod is welded to the bottom edge of the muffler with a gap between it and the back face of the muffler...perfect area for salt/grit/water to collect and rust it to hell. No fixing that! So now I gotta buy a muffler. I was going to buy a cheapo replacement, thinking it'll last a few months til I sell it...then my dad says I should put the car somewhere instead of selling it since it's not worth much. Hmm...I don't know where he's thinking but I don't want to pay to store it. I think he might want it back or something. LOL
I also detailed it today and fixed(hopefully more perminently) the rear knock which is the driver's side shock boot upper mount...rusted and fell so it sits on the boot and knocks the shock over every bump. I had put a piece of radiator hose in the gap but it fell...so I zip-tied it and it shouldn't fall. Also made a scotch pad buffer bit for my drill so I could clean the phone dial wheels a lot better...worked great...then my drill's battery died. :/ Got 1 wheel almost done.

So my day was not very good. I changed the rod bearings, which were not bad at all, and the noise is still there. So I called a friend of mine and he explained to me that the noise I am hearing is a piston slap..... Meaning the block is fukked.... oh well its just money so I have to do it all over again

Did you have the block checked out, clean, machined or even hydrofluxed while it was apart? If so, I would go after the shop that did it. Thats what they where payed to do. If not, its on you sadly. Dont give up though, The block is easier then not to find. Just look for an NA capri, or even local mazda guys maybe?Mazda
