So its been a while since i have posted. Since then I have contemplated getting rid of my black beauty. But then after going from dealer to dealer to get an SUV, I have come to realize that I can just keep the money that I have in my account and get the car fixed. So today I got determined and froggy. I pulled the head off of the block to see that the pistons are fine. The cyl walls are to spec. everything looked good. So I spun the motor around and pushed on a piston and saw that it moved down about 1/8 of an inch. So I made some phone calls and figured it had something to do with the rod bearings. I replaced them twice and got discouraged after the secong set I put in. I still had the original bearings that were in the block. I looked at them and had I looked at them when I first tore the motor apart last month, I would've noticed that there were acl's and they were stamped with a .5 on them. So basically I had oversized bearings and thats why it sounds like something is loose in the motor. So im making some phone calls tomorrow and hopefully I find a set and can get them this week. I want the car running by sat night so I can drive it to the track for an import event on sunday. I am not going to race or anything. I am just going to watch

Ok so I found the bearings and bought them today. There is a place by me called engine builders warehouse. They have a webiste and they can get crank kits for our motors. I also spoke to ACL about the bearings and they told me that they are stamped with a .5 on them but that means that they are 20 over. The head gasket I bought this time is a coretec brand head gasket. The gasket looks like it can handle more than the felpro that I put in at the begining. So maybe friday this will be up and running so I can take her to the track to watch the import races on sunday

I DID IT! I FINALLY GOT IT RUNNING!!!!! I spent about ten hours today buying hoses, cutting and making a custom set-up for the lower and upper rad hoses. Crap, that took too long....
I also got the new radiator secured. got the new fan installed and wired twice (wired it backward the first time, LOL), installed the A/C auxillary fan, all of the intake pipes before and after the intercooler, re-hooked up and adjusted the BOV, connected miscellaneous vacuum lines, cleaned and installed the cone filter, installed center support with hood latch, reconnected the hood-latch cable, installed grille, topped off radiator, burped system, checked oil level and finally turned the key.... WOOT!
Warmed up the car well to check to make sure the fan kicked on (spun backward the first time), but tomorrow I need to run the A/C to make sure the other fan goes on. Also need to try to put the front mud-flaps back on.
Took it out for a test drive.... felt weird. Forgot how loooowww the car sits. I love the speed.... OMG, I forgot how quick the car is.....
Need to check tire pressure tomorrow, too. Kyle and Matt, I think it should make it to Portland. WOOT!

Today I cleaned the door panels then painted the cloth and carpet sections black. They definitely look better and overall pretty good. I ordered some new carpet, found a new dash, which I'll get this weekend, and decided to use the front seats out of a '94 Pro LX. Still looking for rear seats.

In the last few days i have wired in a new relay for the hella horns, made a new ground wire, finally installed the new trailing arms and got an alignment. I also did a bunch of cleaning in the interior and removed the original digital dash and installed a analog one cause the digi was tweeking out.
The engine is finished with its 1000 mile break in and is running great. Tomorrow the car goes back to the tuning shop and has the spring put back in the wastegate. Im having it tuned to a 12lbs boost but once tuned ill cut it back to the 8lb spring in an effort to save the tranny.
a little vid of me and the GTX having some fun in a parking lot which was a sheet of ice, note falkin summer tires dont grab ice good

I guess we will see what they can take, 10 lbs should be about 230 whp I'm hoping. I have 2 good trannys and 1 bad tranny for backups and plan on a full season of autoX this year"See that car, in the 80's that car was deadly." Random man to his son while passing the GTX in a parking lot

Well, since money doesnt seem to be a problem, Have a tranny Rebuilt and have all the gears either hardened, or Make new internals from much stronger material to take abuse. A few guys have done it from what ive heard.
Finally getting a decent tax return this year, and every cent will be going to rebuild the White GT. Its sad to look in my back yard and see my car under a car cover, and not much done to make it run. Hopefully, if all goes well, I can have it drivable by later this year.Mazda
