So another update on my 323. I got an escort gt sunroof. I cant wait to put it in. That is the only thing that I needed on my 323 before I get it painted. I was able to fix my cluster by myself. I Just took it apart and reworked some solder connections, cleaned the inside. Mazda used some conductive and corrosive insulating glue on the inner board. It works for the time being but after the 20 or so years of being in the cluster it starts eating the traces on the board. So I fixed it and its been working for about 3 weeks. I did have another problem with the speedo not showing the corrrect mph. It told me I was going 20mph all the time. It was funny how I fixed it. I got on the turnpike one day leaving my friend's house and pressed it. I look down to see if the temp was moving and I saw that I was doing 115. So I slowed down a lil bit to see if it was true and it was. The cluster has been working since.

Since it's out of the car? Use a spud bar, Iron digger they call it in these parts.
I call it a 5' pry bar.
On the 3rd pry, the axle poped out.
I broke three cold chisles and two short bars. ??? And scarred shippless that I would break the trans. casing.
The spud is what it took, hood off the engine bay, battery out as well as any other fragile obsticles.
The pasenger side was no trouble at all a simple 5 lb hammer and block of wood.
As for the hard ones it is a wise move to pay your favorite mechanic with a lift to pop it for you.
I do things the hard way for learning sake mostly.
This is one I will pay someone else to do next time it's so rough.
Good luck Sir.David

I finally put my hks sqv bov on. I am still using stock stuff. No intercooler upgrades yet. A friend of mine had a VW GTi that he got rid of like 4 years ago and he had his hks bov on an adapter flange that has a hose comming off of it like the stock bov. Its sitting on the intake pipe in the stock location. I love it. Its loud and everyone breaks their necks when they hear it

Reinstalled the rear seatbelts/smaller speakers. Sounds about the same, maybe better...but atleast now if I have to drive my friends around they'll have seat belts back there. Safety first!
Also found the clunking noise that has been bothering me forever, turned out it was the left rear shock boot upper mount...had rusted off the top strut mount so it was flopping around on the boot and hitting the shock uhh stem? I took a piece of hose, cut it, slid it over the shock stem then jammed it in the opening of the boot mount...hard to explain but no clunk!
I'm gonna miss this car.
