A partout showed up on CL...

The title: Parting 1989 Ford Probe GT

What was said in the post was that coolant was leaking into the motor, through either a cracked block, cracked head, or a bad head gasket. and I asked:

Since the motor is bad, if I come and pull it can I just have it? I'm looking to rebuild and put it in my 2nd gen escort gt. Is the turbo still there along with wiring?

    and he replied:

Turbo is still there with the wiring, but the fuel injectors, throttle body, distributor, power steering pump, alternator, airbox, and flywheel are all gone. If nobody else comes looking for engine parts, you can have what's left.

What do you guys think? Would it still be worth picking up even without a lot of the stuff?

I have everything that you're missing... But shipping across the continent might be prohibitive....

I think an F2T would be god-awful-scary-horrifying in an Escort. Mine is scary enough in my MX6, let alone shed 300lbs and put it in a car 2/3rds the size.

Someone has already put an F2T in a 323. I think its on here somewhere, too.

And if you think F2T-powered 323 would be scary, what about bpt323's FE-powered 323?

Different kind of power delivery. The F2T is a truck motor, and it shows. Even a lightly modded F2T in an Escort would be a burnout machine, unless you put slicks on it, then you'd destroy the transmission.

I've seen the videos of the F2T 323, and the scary part about that is that the motor in that video was pretty stock.

My problem is that i've only ridden in one F2T powered car, mine. And mine is rather far from stock.

the ft2's were decent little motors, i had a few in different 626s and mx6s back in the day... first turbo car i owned, long before i thauhgt of making them faster.... id still like to make an f2t or fe3t b2200 pickup....

From the sounds of it, he will just be letting me take it.

And I want it to be different, I've never cared about being the fastest, but being unique.

The guy emailed me back, and told me he only drove it four miles once it started acting up, when he went to do a compression test, coolant was spraying out of the #2 cylinder, and that if I was still interested, to email him next Saturday.

just a blown head gasket prolly, it COULD be a cracked head, even if it is, PAP dude, they usually have a few probes in there, I looked today and none but wait a few weeks and there will be a 2.2 F2T

I wonder if the heads interchange between turbo and non-turbo models. Anyone know? probably just changed the pistons to lower the CR...

Heads are the same. Only difference between the two is the exhaust manifold, taps for the oil and coolant lines for the turbo and the rods/pistons.
