I doubt it's the bores. 3.2874" is what the pistons called for and I gave all that stuff to the machine shop when I took 'em my block. He's been in business for 50 years so I doubt he messed it up. :/ 3.2874" is just over 3 1/4" so I used a tape measure and roughly they looked right. I googled it and other people have had this end gap problem with Wiseco. I'm gonna call 'em today. It's just a runaround I hate lol

Well I called Wiseco and the "tech help" or "guy they hired to play tech help" answered the phone said 0.025" is fine for a second ring end gap that "that's what the manufacturers are running that gap at now." I brought up the spec sheet that came with the pistons, that I bought just weeks ago, and he said it was out of date....what crap does that sound like? Did my bore diameter change or technology improve? Either way they said it was fine and wouldn't affect the engine in any way. I don't really have a choice. I can't afford to get new rings so I suppose I'll run that gap on the second ring. I don't believe that it's gonna affect anything, but I told them to update their 'spec sheet.' Pics soon! hahaLast edited by Redscortgt93; 05-30-2013, 11:38 PM.

You da man! lol I just read in my Haynes manual last night too. End gap isn't critical unless it's over a certain number (same number as that)...^I'm well below 0.039" so I'm good! I got all my top rings at 0.018" and my 2nd rings were at 0.025". I clocked 'em around the piston like I was supposed to and got the short block done last night. I was up until 4:30am...Last edited by Redscortgt93; 05-30-2013, 11:38 PM.

I followed the spec that came with the Wiseco pistons. More heat=bigger gap. Even if I wanted to I couldn't follow the stock N/A spec because they were bigger than that out of the box. For a moderate/street turbo it's recommended 0.0050xbore diameter-top ring and 0.0055xbore diameter-second ring...the guys I bought the pistons from at Race Engineering in Florida said that might even be a bit small for a turbo car. I guess I'll just have blow by and thousands of dollars in the sh!tter...someone on the forum can come pick the pos up lol

I did 0.0055x3.2874(bore diameter) which gave me 0.018 and I had to do what I could with the 2nd ring because they were all 0.025" out of the box...^I called Wiseco and the place I bought the pistons from and it is what it is...I also used this thread for help... file:///C:/Users/Chris/Desktop/Stuff/1993%20Ford%20Escort%20GT/Escort%20Files/Rebuild%20Webpages/How%20to%20rebuild%20you%20BP%20for%20boost...htmLast edited by Redscortgt93; 05-30-2013, 11:54 PM.
