Cheap MX3

I got a line on a MX3 V6 for $600 with only 89K miles on it but the engine is locked up. The guy said his girl drove it and ran it out of oil, and he also said he would be willing to negotiate on the price to get it gone. What do you all think, should I get it. I was planning on swapping out my escort 1.9L for something else, and maybe this would be perfect for a parts car and V6 KL swap.

offer 200 if it is parts-worthy .. 300 if it's " drops a motor in " keeper ... any non-running car is worth very little imo.

btw i'll take the control arms if they are in decent shape to offset the purchase

say I go the V6 swap route, is the handling affected that much from the extra weight of that V6 up front? how much is the difference?

going from a 1.8 v6 to a 2.5 v6? They are almost exactly the same weight aren't they (considering it's the same block and heads)?

I've heard(don't hold me to it) that there's a 60lb diff in the bp and 2.5 v6

iirc they're the same block, so i'd say very little.

also the front springs in the mx-3 are a little stiffer to deal with the small amount of extra weight. unless it's a track car i doubt anybody would be able to ever notice a difference in handling from the extra front end weight.

what you should really be looking at is the weight difference between a bp with all of the turbo accessories, and a kl.

turns out the guy and his old lady decided they will not take less than $500 for it.....I don't think I want to pay more than $400 for it.
