Delayed Throttle response on the POS

So help me out here guys.. My prizm has this annoying delayed response when I use depress the throttle.. It also seems to loose 'pressure' after i go maybe 60% throttle...

when i depress the accelerator, it takes like 1/2 a second to actually blip...

and i I give depress it 100%.... it's useless... it's struggling. let off, and hold around 50-60% and that's the peak of 'power'...

this isn't normal I hope? it's pretty much been like this forever, but as i get ready to finish paying the damn thing off, i want it to run great, and be useful in autox/rallyx..

i thought about changing the fuel filter, but there is no inline filter.. it's apart of the fuel pump asselmbly.. so i wasn't sure if it was necessary..

if it would make a difference either way, it's still delayed when i move the throttle body spring.. thought maybe slack in my throttle cable, but no

    ideas? suggestions?

"There's a hierarchy of insanity in motor sports. Normal people think all racers are crazy. Folks who race sedans think people in open-wheel cars are nuts. People who race cars of any kind think motorcycle racers are absolutely off theirs meds. But there's one group that everyone agrees is made up of the most extreme, the most daring, and absolutely craziest people in racing - rally racers."

Do it have computer codes you can get?
TPS or Manifold Pressure are how the ECU knows you want to go now, so either of those or their wiring is a good place to start. I don't know which the Toyota/GM uses.
Low fuel pressure or maybe bad O2 would mean it can't respond even though it knows you want to go.
Could also be bad HT wires, cap, rotor etc. Loads on these go up as throttle is opened, so if they are borderline...

Funny, my Escort does the same thing. Part of the reason i'm swapping. I don't feel like chasing down the issues on my BP.

i'd check the tps sensor with a multimeter. And do an actual very slow full sweep and watch the resistance values go to 0 or infinite. Often times there are tiny dead spots, or large dead areas even though the designated test values test good.
