RX-8 -> RX-7 ??

I just got my autoweek today . . .

Autoweek : September 20, 2004

and i quote, "A coupe and convertible arrive around spring 2006. No word on whether the coupe will be called an RX-7."


I guess they werent designing an entirely different car after all?

I was under the impression that the RX-8 and RX-7 were going to be two completely different cars, but now it seems the 7 might just be an 8-coupe.

4th gen rx7 has been in development for a while... 3 rotor version of the renesis supposetly. turbo option will likely be available as well.
