a palm tree was seriously like 1/2 a foot from my car on the ground i was thanking god, and yeah hurricanes are definelty not as bad as 5 months of snow for all you northern people ... i have lived up there too, i would rather deal with the occasional hurricanes

Yeah but at least you can build roofs that withstand heavy snowfall... you have to deal with it but it's not dangerous as long as you're prepared.

My building complex is made of concrete. All of the palm trees around our place our about 4' thick. We only have two windows and a sliding door in our apt. The ceiling is layed concrete under the roofline also. We found this out when we got our insurance setup. Plus being on the second floor kind of helps us from floods.

After 21 years of New England.... **** snow.

OK, so it's probably not so bad for a lot of places... just goes back to my whole thing of riding out a hurricane in a concrete bunker on a hill with bulletproof windows.
