    STI vid and questions

    enjoy!
pretty tight vid if you ask me, leh man is a really good driver, but ok i have a question about the intro.........

i really like that test thing he does with the gauges, is it possible to do this on a protege?? do u like hold down the trip reset button while starting the car or is there some trick or does this not work on all cars?

that is the way the sti turns on. the gauges do a full sweep when the key is turned to the 'on' position. It is also possible to adjust the shift beeper to whatever rpm you would like it to tell you when to shift by adjusting a knob on the cluster.

There are no complete stock cluster replacements that I know of. But Defi makes guages that sweep the same way when started. I would guess Subaru had Defi do work with their clusters, or they got the idea from it atleast.

That was an excellent video though. I wish I had the equipment and know-how to produce a video like that.

Could you drift like that with just a normal AWD car or is that just a benefit of the adjustable center differential?

bleh, i wouldn't call being able to slide your STI around in a wet parking lot being a "really good driver"

Full sweep gauges aren't that unusual. If the gauges are electronic, then they'll probably do that. My mom's 05 GP does that.

IIRC Corvettes/Cobra Mustangs do the gauge sweep thing as well. Just depends on the car.

Yeah, it's just that most gauges right now are still mechanical, so they don't do it.

I wonder if it would be possible to make our gauges do that.

That car is FUN! but it has too much wheel hop, when you drop the clutch
