    Someone please help!!

I just installed a J/Y tranny with 30k miles on it in my 95 escort gt. So while it was out i installed a findanza flywheel and CF clutch. I put the tranny in (not fun to do on your back!) filled with fluid and left the car up on stands. Spun the wheels by hand just to make sure both sides turned. Started the car went into reverse and started to let out on the clutch. I could feel it grab because the rpms would drop but the tires would not spin and the more i let off on the clutch still noithing then the car stalls out as if the brakes was on. I have no idea whats goin on with it. This is the second time swaping trannys and still no luck any ideas?

Thats the thing...when I went into reverse now it dosen't want to come out of it. I havent been able to move it at all seems to me that maybe the imput shaft might be frozen or since its from a yunkyard maybe rusted not allowing it to turn when the clutch starts to engadge...??

Boat ancor! But seriously. Its not THAT heavy! And didn't your tranny get stuck in gear when you thought you blew the previous one? And yeah that tranny might be frozen from the J/Y. Did you check the internals before installing it?

Try jacking up the radiator cap and pulling a new car under it.

I'm happy because Dima speeds, which makes him happy. He seems to be happy only when speeding, which makes me happy. And when I'm happy people around me are able to live another day. If you are alive right now, you should thank Dima.

Yes, when i blew the first tranny it got stuck in 2nd...now the J/Y one is stuck in reverse and wont move. I quickly inspected it ...made sure it went into all gears then tryed turning the input-shaft which was really hard but did move...but maybe its not moving as easily as it should? Also when i drained the tranny to make sure all fluid was out of it some water came out of it.

Water? Hmm.. Considering it was at the J/Y for atleast a few months if not years thats ALOT of time for the water to do its "thing"!

weird ****. DId you bleed the clutch? is it able to disengage all the way?

If its in gear, not moving yet the wheels won't spin, maybe the diff is ****ed up or something.

                    does only one wheel spin?

Try jacking up the front wheels, let the clutch out and see if they freespin. Maybe the spider gears dropped out when the axles werent in?

I was thinking that too but with the car up on stands i can spin the driver side wheel and see the pass side wheel turn so I'd believe that the spider gears are fine. And with it up in the air the wheels wont turn when realesing the clutch you hear it grab and then get lower in the rpm as if the front brakes were on...and now the J/Y I got it from is telling me I need to bring it to a tranny place and have them check it before they will warranty it??? WTF!!

that's what I was gonna say. had a similar problem with a friend's Toyota pickup. My Ranger did the same thing a few days after the new clutch was in. needed re-bled. good luck
