Does anyone know of a good program to download music thats free?
I know that it is wrong but come on, I'm not buying a CD for the couple of songs I'm looking for, nor am I going to use iTunes. Someone please, help me out.

Limewire kicks ass. Been using it for a few years. I also download emulators of old ass video game consoles and download games I used to play when I was like 7.

Ares and LimeWire likewise. Most of the other programs are still preloaded with spyware, return very few hits, or just overall suck.

What erks me is the principle that you're going to download SINGLE songs, that cannot be copied to any MP3 player. You have to purchase a certain KIND of player so they can control the liscence on the damn thing. Thats why I don't get why I-Pods are so huge!?!? Can you use other mp3 players with I-Tunes tracks that you've downloaded?

how are ****s huge? if you want flash based, the nano and the shuffle are both options, if you want a portable HD they're all about the size of the regular ****. theres a workaround for the copyright, but you didn't hear it from me. burn it as an audio CD and then rip it as an mp3.

I think you're just too picky about what I've said. Apple makes the ONLY devices that I am aware of that work with the I-Tunes software. Be it Nano, Shuffle, I-Pod, I-Pwn-Joo.. it's all apple . Apple's market share and Apple's literal explosion in the market of Portable MP3 players is HUGE. You cannot deny that. And about that copying-to-cd-then-rip-as-mp3-you-didn't-hear-it-from-me thing you mentioned, there's always a break down in quality.. thats not argueable.

What I'm curious to though, I need a program that simply rips MP3's from my cd's and can catalog them. To date, I've found no program I've been happy with. I think by far, AudioGrabber was the best utility out on the market before they got bought out. Winamp seemed to be too slow, and I'm not ****ing around with Media Player.. damn thing seems to parse or skip portions of my files because they NEVER sound right. I'm just lost and pretty much have given up on the MP3 format. Unless I find some easy way to put my files on to cd in the exact way that I am wanting, I'm not ****ing with it. And thats why I'm an asshole .

Who the hell said I was anti-apple? What the hell are you reading that gives you that impression? Or are you purposely being argumentative to be an ass?

i dont know if any of you have heard about this, but there is a company that lets you download and charges per MB.

They are based out of russia, and do the same thing as itunes or whatever, but no copy protection at all. I guess they get charged alot less for music in russia, cause an average song is like 12 cents @192kbps. I've been using it for a while now, and no complaints here. Its ridiculously cheap, it works perfect, and no riaa knocking on your doorstep.

here is a pic of the final ordering screen:
                        notice the price

freerip works wonders. i've used it for pretty much my entire CD collection.
