All cops should be like this ...

Well, here's a little story from the other night that speaks very well for cops ... at least the one I ran into.

Was coming home from a buddy's house where we worked on his car and changed my tranny fluid. The roads were pretty empty and the shifting was nice and smooth ... so I decided to wind the good ol' GTX out from a stoplight through 1st and part of 2nd on a 2 laned road where the speed limit is 35mph. She felt nice and strong, made a right on another road and wound her out once again. I was grinning as I could get wheelspin in 2nd and as the sweet note of the 3 inch exhaust rang out. Well ... I slowed down to make another left and I notice a set of lights fast approaching and I knew I had attracted a little too much attention. Shortly after my left turn, the blue and reds come on and I pull over.

At this point I was thinking "****, gonna get some sort of ticket and possibly a vehicle inspection." The officer comes out and first thing he asks is: "Does that thing have nitrous, because it's no ordinary Escort" I then proceed to tell him all about the turbo under the hood, GTX swap ... the whole deal and I offer to pop the hood. He agrees, and there I am showing off my engine bay to a police officer on the side of the road. He asks me how much I paid for it all, where I get my parts/info (I did mention clubprotege) and after a little chat he is off.

I asked him if the exhaust was too loud and he said it's fine but it just attracted attention. I couldn't believe it. Not only did I not get a VI for my exhaust, or even a warning; but he liked my car and said I looked responsible (which was true because I wasn't driving dangerously)

Anyways, I was impressed with the entire situation and it speaks a lot of good about that officer. Thought I'd share.

Nice!, yeh i like when people post story's like that cause there are good cops out there i know when i was first starting out to drive some cops were assholes and some were just downright cool as hell

lol and i get that alot too on base i came up to a sportbike at a light, and being a rider myself i told the guy to rev it up and when the light turned green to just flat out open it up......the guy sat there for like 10 seconds and is like are you serious? im like yeh dude just do it i ride to and then told him about my bike.....well the light turned green and he took off as fast as that bike could go! i was smiling the whole time because i love bikes, and that one sounded awesome with an aftermarket pipe. and the look on peoples faces when they have a cop say that to them is just priceless lol

Something very similar happened to me when I first drove Charles' GTX'd Protege. It was around midnight and I missed a gear on my first ever 1st to 2nd upshift and I made a bunch of noise. Turns out there was a PO at the intersection and he came after me. I wasn't speeding or anything, just made a bunch of noise. He pulled us over, and asked if we had installed NOS. Then we told him about the turbo and how we planned on racing on a road course, etc. and he let us go!

It's illegal here to have an aftermarket turbo.

Well, almost complete illegal. I think it has to be carb legal, and non intercooled for street use in CA.
