    Who is afraid of...

ok, trying not to sound like too much of a vagina... Who has even a remote fear or water?

I ask because my highschool auto teacher got into watersports, and in a year after buying his first boat he sold it and got a couple year old malibu tournament boat. Being a teacher he gets to use it ALL summer, and me having kept in touch with him regularly, get the call. I love going out and I have tons of fun (sucking really bad). But I HATE the idea of being in a huge body of water and not having any idea what is floating (swimming) around you... am I the only one?

an example of why, when I was in Tanana, AK (a village) people said whales had swam all the way up the yukon years before and went past Tanana. I dont know about you but swimming with whales doesnt excite me too much... and you can say "oh they are like spiders, they are more afraid of you than you are of it", the only difference is they (being anything in the water) knows where I am but I dont know where they are.

to be honest it seems more of a fear of the lack of control than a fear of water.

if i placed you in an olympic swiming pool on the same boat this woud be a non issue.

i perso aly done have a fear of water or the things in it, mainly since i have snorkeled and been diving since i was 14. been around sharks and other big things and never had an issue.

i do however have a fear of not having control of myself in the sense of i get mildly upset when someone else is driving fast or in a dangerous manner since i have no controll over where and when i may be subject to a crash or other harm.

no sure how to help beyond pinpoint your actual fear so you can work on that instead

yeah the last time we went out (the VERY end of last season) the water was SUPER low, and it was him, my wife and I... so he and I were passing off the wheel, and I was beyond stressed driving someone elses 20k dollar toy in shallow water, driving by the depth finder... then when its my turn in the water I crash, and as I am waiting on him to come back I find myself above some huge rocks that I keep bumping with my feet, then of course when he gets close to me his depth finder starts freakin out and beeping because the water was too shallow (above the rocks) so I had to push the boat away from the rocks, we were probably 30 yards from the shore. I hate that!!!

The water should be higher today than then so today will be fun! Im stoked to get back out, now I am just stressed because I have to be up at like 5:20 tomorrow to start our new longer shift (14.5 hour shift)... tomorrow is going to SUCK!

yeah it was good times... I think it was just something to do with the shallow water last time, I really never dealt with it this time when we were out. It was not so much "whales" that scare me, I have never heard of them up here (not that they havent), It is just EVERYTHING else... and considering i am as noobish as a noob can come in the water sports scene i spend alot of time in the water.

oh and I found out its a 35k dollar boat, that made me feel a lot better... all those times I was worried about finding land in shallow water when I thought it was only 20k... awesome...
