My new daily driver, It's a Honda, let the flaming being

Well, I had been looking for a daily as I was sick of the gas guzzling my 323 GT was doing (partly my fault, it's so fun though) and the turbo is starting to smoke when it feels like it. So I was one the search for something larger to drive. I was looking at Escort wagons and Vw wagons. Then I found a little P.O.S. 1995 honda Odyssey being sold for scrap price. I figured, it's cheap why not go poke at it. After some poking around we figured out that somehow (oil starvation would be my guess) the cam broke at the #4 cam bearing. So the head was pretty much shot, I figured at 246k that the bottom end was pretty screwed as well. So I offered the guy $250 and dragged home my new wagovan. I proceeded to tear the interior apart remove the useless third seat and the ever so destroyed carpet. Then I pulled the junk F22b6 and tossed it aside. I found a nice 90k F23A1 (99 Accord Vtec engine) and went 4 hours in my brothers 97 Protege to pick it up. I also got a cheap-o ebay header and cat delete for it as well as tons of other new parts. Jammed it all into the van with a 95 accord Vtec ecu and boom a good running reliable 90k car for under $1000. Plus it's huge I can jam 2 engine in it if I want! It's not a bad thing to drive and gets pretty good mileage! Either way here are some pics!

    Day 1

    bye bye carpet

    Time for the heart transplant

F23A1 on it's way home in the Protege

    Ecu swap time

    Messy but running!

Better, still need to paint the VC

Folding center table from a 99-04 Odyssey ftw!

Dvd head unit, RSX cubby with door and more lighter sockets then needed where the stock cup holders were!

New shoes, not too bad for $200 for rims and tires they are 4th gen Eclipse GS wheels, tires have less then 10k on them!
hopefully not much more to come I am trying not to mod the van much, the rims were needed as the stockers were all bent!

It would be nicer without the stickers, good work on bringing it back to life.

Thanks, gotta save pretty much rust free (what you see on the door is it) cars when you can.

I am thinking about a different center cap. I just got these from a friend for free and preferred them over blank or mitsu ones. As for the stickers, gotta rep the home town when your 1000 miles away, and my cars always have band stickers. Yes the rising sun is overkill but I didn't like the billboard size gas door and it's a common trend on Ratsun (we have a 78 Datsun 620 rat shop truck) to put the rising sun on theirs. I sorta dug it and did it, I thought it turned out well!

Unless you consider my 1982 civic I had for a couple months this is my first Honda.

The rising sun thing is cool on retro stuff but looks dorky as hell on late-model ****- it's like a shocker sticker to me.

Otherwise, I'm down with it ESPECIALLY if you drop that thing super low. I always like weirdo wagons and minivans.

I get ya, I am not a fan of the played out shocker stickers. I figured it's already white and is the only generation of odyssey built in Japan (99-on are built stateside), so it wouldn't be so out of place. See below please, for answers to "super low".

Wow that thing is tasty, I wonder if it's H22/H23 swapped. These vans are pretty much Cd6 (94-97) accord's in the front (including front suspension) so any swap possible in the Cd6 is possible in this van same mounts and everything. If the van lasts and I really fall in love with it one day maybe a h22 or k20/k24 swap is possible. I am sure the trans will go first then I am converting it to 5-speed! Ksport makes coilovers, so does Cusco (supposedly) and Tein makes coilovers and springs. If a used set ever pops of up of the tein springs I may get them. Other then that until the struts blow out no low for this thing. The 323 needs attention first.

one of these with a 5-speed, double-din DVD player, coils, and legit wheels would be a rad daily if I had a bunch of rugrats.

or take the back seats out, and it would be good for making rugrats
