Cars done and running.. Pics and video

Same thing I posted on the mx-3 forum but check it out anyway..

Check me out.. Im just the coolest arent I?

Youll have to excuse the thilthy car and dirty rear bumper, the turbo was getting WAYYYY too much oil pressure and burning it in the exhaust, so I put a restrictor in it yesterday and its been fine since. I might need to go even smaller with the size since its still getting alot.

I have a full turbo back mandrel bent 3 inch exhaust with just a magnaflow muffler at the back. I might have to put on a resonator but this would be liveable.. It could be a bit quieter though.

Shifting at 5000 rpm at 10 psi

    Outside

Dont mind the puff at the end, the turbo is getting a tiny bit too much oil pressure. It would only do that once I took a video.. how annoying.

Turbonetics turbos are known for that anyway apparently.

think its ok to put boost into it right away??? or have you broken it in already?

those wheels look heavy (mine are 38lbs each corner with bald tread) heavy sucks

either way, nice install & i love the blue paint color.

Motor feels very smooth and responsive.

Ive had the car running for about a week now and Im still working out some kinks like the oil feed issue and I blew a rad hose the second day.

I probally have about 800 k on the motor now and it feels great.

I changed the oil after the first 50 kilometers and now im not revving past 5000 until I change it again. I questioned alot of people who have broken in engines before and my friend has broken his in about 5 times now. You basically have to get pressure in there to get behind the rings and seat them against the cyl walls. You have to run it farily hard but dont rev the guts out of it. I havent gone past half throttle or above 5000 rpm yet and im only running 10 psi.

Check out this guy, this seems to be a very popular article.

The thing is to avoid sustained rpm and partial throttle. The rpms have to be varied and you have to let the engine slow the car down after you accelerate up through the rpms.

Thanks man, Hey what kind of turbo oil feed do you have setup on your racing 323's? You must use some kind of restrictor on it. Lemmie know.

franko, i have a tip that might help you.... if you are running a banjo bolt at the stock oil feed location try this.

find an A4 VW jetta/golf at the junkyard (others may be the same, but ive only checked on an A4). steal one of the banjo bolts from the front brake caliper. they fit the block, and they also have an extremely tiny hole which you could then drill out to your appropriate oil restrictor size
